Whaikōrero 01:36
Whaikōrero - Lyrics I te tau kotahi mano, waru rau, ono tekau ma whā, kua tae mai nga hoariri ki Tauranga Moana. In 1864, hostile forces arrived at Tauranga harbour. He taua a Kuīni Wikitoria nga hoariri. These enemies were an army sent by Queen Victoria. I tino maha nga toa tauiwi. The foreign troops were many in number. Ko General Cameron te rangatira o tera atu taua; te taua o Ingarangi. General Cameron was the leader of the army; this army from England. Ko tana kaupapa, te pēhipēhi nga iwi Maori. His mission was to suppress the Maori tribes. Ka whakautu nga iwi mai te whakahuihui i runga i te taumata a Pukehinahina. The people responded by assembling on the hilltop at Pukehinahina. Ko Ngaiterangi, ko Ngāti Pūkenga, ko Ngāti Ranginui, ko Ngāti Pikiao hoki. There were warriors from Ngaiterangi, Ngāti Pūkenga, Ngāti Ranginui and Ngāti Pikiao. Kei waenganui o nga iwi, i tū ana tā māua tupuna, ko Te Aho Aho tōna ingoa. Amongst them stood our great great great grandfather, Te Aho Aho.

HOLDING MY BREATH - Lyrics Before you judge me take a good hard look at yourself You don’t know me but you’re draining me of mental health A lie based on popular opinion I want to die ’cos’ I can’t be forgiven Locked in a room Void of humanity I’m in a black hole Suffering endlessly Opening my eyes is worse than death That’s why I keep on holding my breath The world is caving in all around me I see myself as a vulgar monstrosity My mind collapsed into a technical mess I can’t deal with the guilt that I have to ingest Locked in a room Void of humanity I’m in a black hole Suffering endlessly Opening my eyes is worse than death That’s why I keep on holding my breath Opening my eyes worse than death … Why I keep on holding my breath x4 Worse than death … Holding my breath x2 Opening my eyes worse than death … Why I keep on holding my breath x4

Te Ara 04:40
Te Ara - Lyrics I nga wā ō mua, ka mate a Whakatūria In ancient times, Whakatūria was killed Ka timata te ara o Ngāti Ohomairangi ki te Ika a Māui And so began the voyage of Ngāti Ohomairangi to the Great Fish of Māui (the North Island of New Zealand) * * * * * A ha Te Arawa ē! Heark, people of Te Arawa waka! A ha Te Arawa ē! Heark, people of Te Arawa waka! Ko te whakaariki … ko te whakaariki! 'Tis the invading army Tukua mai ki a piri, tukua mai ki a tata Let it come near, let it come close Kia eke mai i runga ki te paepae poto a Houmaitawhiti! Let it reach the very threshold of Houmaitawhiti! Note: The haka at the end of this track is an ancient composition by Ngati Ohomairangi to celebrate their safe arrival in the waka (canoe) Te Arawa to the shores of Aotearoa (New Zealand).

about

This trio of high school students shocks and surprises audiences on a number of levels: ALIEN WEAPONRY's songwriting is complex, developed and highly political. Their live performance energy is startling, with just two fifteen-year olds commanding the front of stage as effectively as four- and five-piece bands three times their age. Many of their lyrics are in New Zealand’s native language, Te Reo Māori.
